[WISHLIST ON STEAM]

Tombstone Tactics is an auto-battler roguelike. You are the Lich: raise an undead army, march it through a gauntlet of battles, and survive to the final boss.

The Lich never sets foot on the battlefield — it is your run. Every lost fight wounds it. At zero, the run ends.

Your units are blank chassis: archetypes give the frame, items and upgrades give the power.

The loop in 30 seconds: win a battle → pick one of three cards → build your bench → deploy onto tombstones → equip items → watch them fight → survive to the boss.

Full manual below.

Recruiting (between battles)

Pick one of three cards after each fight:

  • Recruit — add a new unit of that archetype to your bench
  • Upgrade — permanent stat boost for an entire archetype (all current and future units)
  • Passive — permanent triggered effect for an archetype

Each card can be rerolled once. Cards show exactly what you're getting.

Rest nodes heal your Lich.

Pre-battle setup

  • Your bench (bottom) is persistent — benched units are never lost, they just wait for later fights.
  • Drag units onto tombstones to deploy. Your deploy cap grows as the run progresses.
  • Drag items from the Item Panel onto deployed units: 1 ability slot + 3 item slots each. Any item fits any archetype. Hover for tooltips.
  • Sacrifice Altar (bottom-right, once per battle): drag a unit onto it to swap it for a different archetype (its items refund), or drag an item to reroll it into another.
  • Press Battle when ready.

Combat

  • Units auto-attack in real time and build mana by attacking and taking damage. Full mana = they auto-cast their equipped ability.
  • Auto-attacks deal Physical damage, reduced by Armor. Abilities can deal Magical damage, reduced by Protection. Both have diminishing returns.
  • Shields show as a light-grey extension on the health bar.

The run

  • Your Lich starts at 100 HP. Zero ends the run.
  • Win: survivors carry into the next node, items intact.
  • Lose: each surviving enemy chips your Lich — tougher enemies hit harder. A lost boss ends the run.
  • Nothing is wasted: dead units refund their ability and items to your inventory.
  • Enemies can drop items on death; bosses always drop their full pool. Drops are yours win or lose.
  • Clear the fixed track of Battle, Elite, and Rest nodes and defeat the final boss.
